MEDICAL PHYSICS
ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES
The department was the FIRST to start the M.Sc (MEDICAL PHYSICS) course in South ASIA in 1981 in collaboration with ANNA UNIVERSITY. (The PG Degree course is offered at the university).So far over 360 students have passed out and well settled in INDIA and abroad. At present 30 students are enrolled per year.
RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
The Department is involved in research actively and so far SEVEN Scholars got their Degrees under the guidance of Dr.N.Vivekanandan, up to February 2015. Currently, FOUR students have registered for PhD under the guidance of Dr.N.Vivekanandan.
Mr.P.Sriram was awarded PhD in viva-voce examination held on 15.10.2012 at Cancer Institute for his thesis entitled "A study on clinical applications of kilovoltage cone beam computed tomography in image-guided radiotherapy".
Mr.S.A.Syamkumar was awarded PhD in viva-voce examination held on 15.10.2012 at Cancer Institute for his thesis entitled "A study on patient specific quality assurance in volumetric modulated arc therapy".
Mr.S.Prabakar was awarded PhD in viva-voce examination held on 24.12.2012 at Cancer Institute for his thesis entitled "Dosimetric Studies in Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy".
Mr.J.Prakash was awarded PhD in viva-voce examination held on 19.12.2014 at Cancer Institute for his thesis entitled "Monitor unit verification calculation for volumetric modulated arc therapy".
